The Legacy of MLK
This NBC News clip tells the story of the final days of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "I must confess that that dream that I had that day has at many points turned into a nightmare."
On Monday Amy Goodman, who was herself on her way to Haiti, filled the entire Democracy Now hour with Martin Luther Kin In His Own Words. She played the Riverside Church speech on Vietnam - which absolutely took my breath away, hearing it again, now - and the speech he gave in Memphis the day before he was shot. Both speeches made me realize all over again, and maybe as never before, what we lost in this country when we lost that man. I wonder if anything would have been different had he been able to live and work for his dream.
